Holistic health and wellness

90-Day Men's Health Challenge

Led by a Nashville urologist/men’s health specialist and a restorative lifestyle strategist, this program focuses on improving men’s health by educating participants on five key areas: medical, nutrition, mindset, sleep and movement. With this comprehensive approach and a strong support structure, men are empowered to make significant lifestyle shifts and reach their health goals. Participants will feel more energized and see a reduction in weight and waist size as they progress.

Diabetes Management

Men are generally diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at a younger age and with lower body fat than women. And diabetes puts you at greater risk for heart disease, stroke, vision loss, kidney failure, amputation and erectile dysfunction. If you’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, prediabetes and/or have a BMI of 30 or greater, check out one of our diabetes management programs described below. Both are provided at no cost to you.

 

Virta

Virta uses nutrition and technology to treat and even reverse your condition. This medically supervised, research-backed program focuses on the root causes of high blood sugar. Here's what’s included:

Mental Health

Men are less likely than women to seek mental health care, often viewing it as a sign of weakness or feeling afraid of being judged by others. But getting care can be life changing. Addressing your concerns and mental health conditions is an important step toward overall health and wellness. 

 

MNPS’s mental health resources provide private, confidential and convenient options for mental health support. No-cost help is available via telehealth, in person or text consultations.

Heart Health

Heart disease is the number-one cause of death in men. Whether you’ve been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia or want to start a heart-healthy exercise habit, MNPS benefits are available to help.

 

MyHeartHealth bundle

Vanderbilt Health’s MyHeartHealth Bundle provides comprehensive treatment for cardiac arrhythmia, also known as irregular heartbeat.

 

With the MyHeartHealth bundle, a dedicated patient navigator will help guide you through your treatment journey. It also includes:

·      Consultation to determine most appropriate electrophysiology (EP) procedure

·      Cardiac testing, monitoring, diagnostic imaging and labs

·      Pre-surgery preparation, EP procedure and post-procedure follow-up

FREE fitness center

If you’re ready to up your heart health through exercise, try out the MNPS Employee Wellness Center at Berry Hill.

 

Whether you want to take a few laps on the track, work out on the strength and cardio equipment, or meet one-on-one with a fitness associate to create a customized training plan, the center has options to exercise in a way that works best for you and your heart.

 

The fitness center is free for MNPS employees, spouses and retirees and is open year-round, Monday-Friday, 5:30 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
