These Health Improvement Programs are available to MNPS employees enrolled in the Certificated Employee Health Plan and, in many cases, their enrolled dependents. These programs are in addition to your health insurance coverage and the many no-cost health care services offered at the MNPS Employee & Family Health Care Centers. Synchronous Health telehealth counseling

This unique program is designed just for teachers and the challenges they face, which often take a toll on mental and emotional health. It's delivered through your phone or smart device and includes access to a live licensed counselor via a telehealth app.

GuidanceResources® EAP

Your EAP can help you and your household family members with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship and marital conflicts, job pressures, and legal and financial concerns. Services are free, available 24/7 and completely confidential. You don’t have to be enrolled in MNPS insurance and you may begin using the EAP on your first day of active employment.*

Cylinder: Digestive health experts

While stress and anxiety may lead to digestive symptoms like indigestion, stomach cramps, diarrhea, loss of appetite, emotional eating or nausea, many studies have shown that improving gut health can also support better mental health. This program includes an at-home gut microbiome kit and analysis and a dedicated health coach.

​​Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course

This no-cost, evidence-based course teaches you to consciously work with your own stress and the demands of life. You’ll learn mindfulness techniques and participate in gentle movements and group discussions aimed at enhancing awareness.*

Mamaya Health: Maternal mental health therapy

Mamaya Health offers virtual (telehealth) therapy for issues such as perinatal depression, anxiety, trauma, "baby blues," isolation or overwhelm in pregnancy or parenthood, and pregnancy loss or grief. Mamaya Health counselors are specially trained in maternal mental health, providing the highest level of support when it’s needed most. â€‹

Back pain

MySpineHealth bundle

Provided through Vanderbilt Health at no cost to you, this program bundles all the services needed for select spine surgeries, providing the fastest, most cost-effective treatment and recovery path for patients suffering from chronic back pain. Surgical options are considered as a last resort and only recommended when conservative options have been exhausted.​

Cancer

MyOncologyHealth bundle

A cancer diagnosis can be scary and overwhelming. Provided through Vanderbilt Health at no cost to you, this program is designed to relieve some of the burden and uncertainty by offering education and expert support with a registered nurse for your journey. You'll receive access to personalized educational resources as well as a dedicated oncology nurse navigator who will be by your side every step of the way.

Virta

Many people living with prediabetes (5.7%-6.4% A1c) don’t even realize it until it’s too late. If you think you’re at risk, Virta can help. And if you do have prediabetes, Virta will give you the tools and support you need to stop prediabetes in its tracks.

Diabetes management

Diabetes and nutrition education

With a referral from your primary care provider or endocrinologist you and/or your covered dependents with diabetes can see a certified diabetes educator for self-management education and/or medical nutrition therapy. Some network providers offer telehealth options, including Vanderbilt.*

​

Diabetic eye exams

Diabetic eye exams are available at the MNPS Health Care Centers. Images are then reviewed by an ophthalmologist. If signs of retinopathy are found, we will contact you to discuss next steps. But this screening does not replace regular eye exams, provide a glasses/contacts prescription, or test for glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye). Call 615-259-8755 to make an appointment.*

Shared Medical Appointments

Available at the Employee Wellness Center, shared medical appointments (SMAs) are a unique opportunity to have your follow-up appointments in a group setting, which provides consultation with an endocrinologist, self-management education and peer support all in one visit. Call 615-259-8755.*

Telehealth with an endocrinologist

Patients can schedule a diabetes specialist telehealth visit with Vanderbilt Health’s Tiffanie Marksbury, nurse practitioner in endocrinology. Make an in-person appointment at one of the MNPS Health Care Centers. When you arrive, a nurse will help get your visit started with Tiffanie. Any lab/blood work ordered can be done while you’re in the clinic.*

Virta 

For those with type 2 diabetes, Virta is best known for its reversal program, but it also offers the tools and support to help you better manage your diabetes without requiring dietary changes—that is, until you’re ready.

Hearing loss

Hearing aid benefit

This benefit, bundled with your medical/dental/vision insurance package, pays up to $1,400/person for hearing aids (every five years) when you use Amplifon providers.

MyHearingHealth bundle

Provided through Vanderbilt Health at no cost to you, this program bundles all the services needed for successful cochlear implant surgery for patients 18 and older with severe hearing loss.  In many cases, this life-changing surgery is completed in one day.

Provided through Vanderbilt Health at no cost to you, this program bundles all the services an expectant mother and baby need to receive the best care – from enrollment through 12 weeks after delivery. This benefit includes free educational classes, including lactation classes.

The Lactation Network

TLN connects new mothers with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for support with a variety of concerns, including latching issues, milk supply, returning to work, and weaning. Consultations can be held in person or virtually.

This is a program just for men. Male MNPS employees and male spouses/partners enrolled in the Certificated Employee Health Plan are eligible to participate.

Available at any MNPS Health Care Center, if indicated we can now take and send a photograph of the suspicious area(s) to Vanderbilt Dermatology for evaluation. Simply make an in-person appointment by calling 615-259-8755.*

Substance use disorder

Provided through Vanderbilt Health at no cost to you, this program bundles all the services needed to rethink recovery and beat substance use disorder. The program includes support for opioid use disorder as well as other substance use disorders, including alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine and other stimulants, sedatives, hallucinogens, inhalants and other psychoactive substances.

Ready to quit tobacco? Cigna's Tobacco Cessation Program has proven results with 89% of Cigna participants staying tobacco-free one year after graduating from the program.

This program, offered through the MNPS Health Care Centers, is designed for people with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher who want to lose weight and pursue better health. Eligible enrollees receive 50% reimbursement of membership fees at an approved weight management program/organization.*
